Crochet Baby Summer Dress (FREE PATTERN)

The BABY CROCHET SUMMER DRESS is worked by first making the front and back panels and then combining them with the shoulder laces.
As soon as we're done making the basic dress we can add a front pocket.
To finish off we can add some buttons as decorations.
Materials:
YONKEY MONKEY YARN (70% BAMBOO, 30% COTTON)

Terms and Abbreviations:
CH = CHAIN
DC = DOUBLE CROCHET
FP DC = FRONT POST DOUBLE CROCHET
BP DC = BACK POST DOUBLE CROCHET
DC DECR = DOUBLE CROCHET DECREASE
How to make the Crochet Vest
FRONT AND BACK PANEL
ROW 0: CH 85 + 2
ROW 1:
DC into 3rd CH from the row
DC until you reach the end of the row
ROW 2 & 3:
CH 2, turn
alternate FP and BP DC until you reach the end of the row
ROW 4 & 5:
CH 2, turn
4DC (change to white color before ending the 4th DC)**
#5 DC (change to milk yellow color before ending the 5th DC) 5 DC ( change to white color before ending the 5th DC)#
repeat the instructions in #...# until you reach the end of the row
** make sure to always take the other yarn with you by weaving in the yarn while making the DC
ROW 6 & 7
Repeat rows 4 & 5 but create the checkered pattern by alternating the colors
MAKE A TOTAL OF 12 ROWS WITH THIS CHECKERED PATTERN
ROW 16:
(Start making decreases by making a DC DECR at the beginning and end of the row)
CH 2, turn
DC DECR, 3 DC (change color before ending the 3rd DC) 5DC (change color before ending 5th DC)
alternate until the last 5 DC left 3DC, DC DECR
ROW 17 - 19:
repeat row 16 but take care of the change of color in order to keep the desired checkered pattern
ROW 20 - 42: Repeat rows 4-7
ROW 43:
CH2, turn
alternate FP and BP DC 6 times (3x FP DC, 3x BP DC)**
DC DECR & DC until you need to change the color to keep the checkered pattern
continue until you have 8 stitches left
DC DECR & alternate FP and BP DC 6 times (3x FP DC, 3x BP DC)**
** the FP and BP DC we are always crocheting with the milk yellow yarn. For the DCs always make sure to change color according to the checkered pattern.
ROW 44 - 57: repeat row 43
ROW 58:
repeat row 43 but without decreases and with milk yellow color only
ROW 58 - 59:
CH 2, turn and alternate FP and BP DC until the end of the row
SHOULDER LACES
after you made the back and front panels you can combine them by crocheting single crochet along the borders and then you are going to take the back panel and start making the shoulder laces
CH2, turn and alternate FP and BP DC 6 times (3x FP DC, 3x BP DC)
CH2, turn and repeat
repeat until you reach the desired length (mine is 21 cm)
FRONT POCKET
ROW 0: CH 25 + 2
ROW 1 & 2:
CH 2, turn
4DC (change to white color before ending the 4th DC)
#5 DC (change to milk yellow color before ending the 5th DC) 5 DC ( change to white color before ending the 5th DC)#
repeat the instructions in #...# until you reach the end of the row
ROW 3 - 6:
Repeat rows 4 & 5 but create the checkered pattern by alternating the colors
ROW 7:
CH 2, turn
DC until you reach the end of the row with milk yellow yarn only
ROW 8 & 9:
CH 2, turn
alternate FP and BP DC until you reach the end of the row
Now we finished our crochet dress. You can now add the buttons and hide the leftover yarn by weaving them in with the darning needle.
And here you go. The finished dress!
